Learning

Learning gets a separate page to itself because it is so important. Learning can come from many sources and training is just one of those sources. Unfortunately, so many people miss out on learning by having closed minds.

This "closed mind"`attitude can most easlity be seen when people attend courses. Whether the trainer / tutor is good, bad or indifferent you can learn from a course. Obviuously a good trainer can make a difference great delegates make all the difference.

Great delegates come the course with the attitude of "What can I learn today?" and "How can I use this to do things better?"

Another important point about learning is the "three levels of learning". These are:

   Level 1:      Cerebral

   Level 2:      Behavioural

   Level 3:      Transformational

You meet many people who have undertaken very high levels of cerebral leaning. Ask them about any theory or model and the know about it BUT have they used this learning to change their behaviour? Learning at this level is fine but is nothing more than academic learning.

The real challenge is to learning cerebral learning into behavioural learning. This is where the learning is put into practice behaviourally. This is not easy but with practice gets easier and once it becomes part of the way you do things this becomes transformational. Transformational learning is where the learning has turned into the way you do things - wiithout consciously thinking.

Too mamy people can talk about models & theories but do not role model them - otherwise known as the "knowing - doing trap".
